Little Tokens of Love - A Valentines Gift Guide
I used to be a bit “bleh” about Valentine’s Day.
“Why do we need one specific day to celebrate love” I used to say. “ Love can be celebrated every day without all the commercialism”.
Of course this is true, but I’ve changed my mind in recent years.
Why NOT celebrate love on Valentines Day? We can celebrate love every day, but since there’s a day to remind us to do it, why not! In fact, why not celebrate all the events in the calendar, the seasons and traditions?
We don’t go too crazy over here, usually just something out of the ordinary, like a bottle of fizz with dinner. Colin will probably cook something delicious and I’ll set the table a little more fancy than a regular Monday night.
Sometimes we don’t do gifts at all, other times a small token gift to each other and the boys.
Always cards. I love writing in cards, I feel it’s my chance to remind my partner, children, friends just how much I love them.
If you’re looking for some Valentines treats, here’s a little inspo…
For him, for her, for them. I tried to choose little luxuries that you might like too, so feel free to leave this page open on your laptop… hint hint!
Roses are of course synonymous with love and Valentine’s Day, but they’re not actually in season in the UK right now. We are, however entering peak British tulip season, and it’s a great time to plant Shrub Roses in the garden or pots outside for blooms year after year. So I’ve asked Col not to buy me roses this year, as I’ll enjoy my tulips instead, while spritzing my pulse points with the sweet smell of summertime Red Roses.
